Foster-based rescue

Fostering saves lives. We make it simple.

Every dog in our care lives in a real home. No cages. No shelters. We cover all medical costs, food, and supplies. You provide the couch — and we handle everything else.

Types of fostering

Find the right commitment for you

Every type of foster placement saves a life. We match dogs to households — not homes to a waiting list. The right match matters more than speed.

01

Short-term foster

Care for a senior dog while we find their forever home. Most short-term fosters last 8 to 12 weeks. You are not committed beyond your availability — if you have a holiday coming up, we arrange respite cover.

2 – 3 months
  • All vet costs covered
  • Food and supplies provided
  • 24/7 coordinator support
  • Respite available for holidays
02

Hospice foster

Open your home to a dog with terminal or complex medical needs for the rest of their life. The hardest and most rewarding role we offer. Our hospice fosters describe it as a privilege — a final chapter of real dignity for a dog who deserves it.

6 months – 2 years
  • Full palliative care funded
  • Specialist vet support
  • Dedicated hospice coordinator
  • Bereavement support included
03

Respite foster

Cover for our regular fosters when they travel, have a family emergency, or need a break. Short windows — usually 3 to 14 days. Perfect for first-time fosters who want to test the commitment before taking on a longer placement.

3 – 14 days
  • Ideal for first-timers
  • Detailed handover notes provided
  • Full coordinator briefing
  • No long-term commitment
The process

From application to placement in 4 steps

We move at the pace of a thoughtful match — not a waiting list. Most approved fosters are matched within 2 to 4 weeks of approval.

1

Apply online

Fill in the application form below. Tell us about your home, schedule, and experience. It takes about 8 minutes. No references at this stage.

2

Phone call

Our foster coordinator calls within 48 hours. Not an interview — a conversation. We want to understand what kind of dog fits your life right now.

3

Home visit

A coordinator visits your home. Takes 30 minutes. We check safety (fencing, hazards) and meet anyone else in the household. Usually completed within a week of the phone call.

4

Matched and placed

Once approved, we find a dog whose needs match your home. You get full details before you commit. No pressure. When the match feels right to both sides, we arrange the placement.

Questions

What fosters ask us

I work full-time. Can I still foster? +
Yes — most senior dogs sleep 16+ hours a day and are content alone for 6 to 8 hours. We match dogs to your schedule during the application process. We also have respite fosters who can cover days you're travelling or working unusually long hours.
What if the dog gets sicker while with me? +
You call us. We cover every emergency vet visit, every specialist referral, every medication change. Our foster agreement is clear: if a dog's needs change, we adjust the plan with you. You are never on the hook financially or making medical decisions alone.
Can I adopt the dog I'm fostering? +
Yes — we call this a "foster fail" and we love when it happens. If you want to adopt your foster dog, you have right of first refusal and we will guide you through the adoption process. Many of our hospice and sanctuary placements started as short-term fosters.
Do I need a garden? +
Not always. It depends on the dog. Some of our senior dogs are content with short on-lead walks and do not need outdoor space. We will only match you with a dog whose needs fit your housing. A flat with a committed walker can be right for certain dogs.
What happens if I go on holiday? +
We arrange respite cover. Just give us two weeks' notice and we will find a qualified respite foster to care for your dog while you're away. You don't have to cancel your holiday. We have a network of respite fosters available for exactly this reason.
